Your website is the powerhouse behind your business – you make sales, gain customers, and collect insights to help create and execute marketing strategies. But how do you get people to find your website and convert them to become a customer?
One of the many ways that people fail in marketing is by integrating strategies to effectively drive traffic to the source of information, which for most, is primarily their website. Finding unique, creative and effective ways to drive people to your site is important in generating sales and building your audience base. As someone who has been doing such as a career, I am happy to share a few tips and tricks to get you started on building traffic to your website.
Don’t make your audience jump through hoops to find you. Typing in long URLs and trying to Google “that one place” is hard, so offer them a QR code on flyers, business cards, etc. to easily access your site. Using a smartphone camera, people with these collateral items can easily scan and access your website without typing or searching to find you. Not sure how to create a QR code? A huge section of your audience likely finds you from organic and paid search, such as Google, so become familiar with this platform and invest in advertising to ensure your results populate on the first page when your audience searches key words. Google Ad Words offers a free certification, allowing for you to become a seasoned professional in no time. With this, you’ll be able to sponsor your content and place it in front of your true customers. Additionally, build your organic search by using Search Engine Optimization (SEO) on your website. Using plug ins on WordPress, like Yoast SEO, or SEO settings in Showit can help you to achieve website traffic goals.
From collateral to web pages, email signatures and beyond, putting your URL (especially a hyperlinked URL) will allow for people to easily access and view your website. If you want to specifically drive people to a certain page using a certain tactic, such as driving people to your blog from your email to them, use a specific URL in your email or signature to send them there. Additionally, when you’re sending emails to customers or potential customers, always hyperlink important keywords to areas of your site, such as how I link to external sources in this post.
Using social media ads, such as Facebook and Instagram Ad Manager, you can send your potential customers directly to a web page on your site. Additionally, you can often feature a link to your site on the page, whether it be as a website button on Facebook, or as a URL in your Instagram bio. Always make sure to have an actionable link on your social media pages and posts so that your customers have a call to action with motivation to visit your website.
